Ten Commands from God

Commandment 1 · Put God first

The promotion is not the real offer

A professional pauses before accepting a dishonest promotion offer.

The promotion would change your family’s finances. Before signing, the director explains the unwritten condition: approve a practice you know is dishonest, stay quiet, and stop letting your faith interfere. You have spent years saying God comes first. Now that claim has a price attached. The question is not whether work matters. It is whether work can purchase your obedience.

Start with what God says
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.Exodus 20:3 · King James Version
Choose your response

What does your decision reveal about your highest loyalty?

Choose the response you are prepared to defend. Then examine the cost.

Where the command is violated

Name the wrong

Making career, money, or security the authority that overrides God.

What obedience looks like

Act with integrity

Giving God highest loyalty even when obedience changes the budget.

Understand the command

Read beyond the excuse

The command exposes ultimate allegiance. Employment and income are good responsibilities, not automatic idols; the conscious choice to overrule God is the issue in this case.

Make the next step concrete

What will change after this page?

Identify one decision where you have already named the price of your integrity. What boundary must you state, and what practical preparation will help you keep it?
