Ten Commands from God

Commandment 7 · Be faithful in marriage

The affair began before you named it

A married couple begins a serious conversation with a phone set aside.

The messages started as professional conversation. Now you delete them, share complaints about your spouse, and arrange time alone with someone whose romantic interest is clear. You tell yourself that nothing counts until a physical line is crossed. The secrecy already tells you that you are protecting a relationship at your marriage’s expense.

Start with what God says
Thou shalt not commit adultery.Exodus 20:14 · King James Version
Choose your response

What are you choosing to protect?

Choose the response you are prepared to defend. Then examine the cost.

Where the command is violated

Name the wrong

Breaking marital faithfulness through an affair; nurturing secrecy can be a path toward that betrayal.

What obedience looks like

Act with integrity

Keeping the marriage covenant and acting decisively to protect it.

Understand the command

Read beyond the excuse

The KJV command names adultery. This case distinguishes the affair itself from the earlier choices that cultivate it.

What communication, meeting, or secret must stop? Identify the boundary and the accountable person who will help you keep it. Do not promise instant reconciliation as a reward.
