Ten Commands from God

Commandment 1 · Put God first

The price of belonging

A student pauses between an acceptance letter and a group invitation.

The audition results are out. You made the group you have wanted to join for two years. After rehearsal, someone hands you a private challenge: prove you belong by joining an activity you already know disobeys God. “If your faith gets a vote here, you are out.” Nobody is asking whether you enjoy music or friendship. They are asking who has final authority.

Start with what God says
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.Exodus 20:3 · King James Version
Make your call

Who gets the final word?

There is a cost behind every answer. Choose one to examine it.

Where the command is violated

The line crossed

Knowingly making acceptance more authoritative than God.

What obedience looks like

The better decision

Letting God’s authority determine a costly decision.

Understand the command

Do not miss the distinction

Enjoying a talent or wanting friends is not having another god. The issue here is a deliberate transfer of highest loyalty.

Take it into your week

Prepare before the pressure

Write the sentence you would actually say. Keep it brief, clear, and respectful. Identify one adult you could talk with afterward.
